MEDICAL LASERS |
Laboratory for laser medicine was formed in POLYUS Research & Development Institutein 1965. The carried-out investigations allowed to develop the first serial laser medical systems for surgery, ophthalmology and oncology. These systems based on CO2 and ND:YAG lasers. Lately, semiconductor lasers started to use in therapeutic applications. Today our laser medical systems are widely used by leading medical centers and hospital. At present POLYUS Research & Development Institute is focused on following main applications: -cardiology and physiotherapy; -surgery and oncology; -ophthalmology; -cosmetology and dermatology; -veterinary; -ecology. |

The MODULE-GF device is designed for combined photodynamic therapy and laser-induced thermotherapy of oncologic diseases. The therapeutic effect is provided by laser radiation at 670 um in the photodynamic therapy channel and at 810…1060 um in the laser-induced thermotherapy channel. The delivery of optical radiation of the photodynamic therapy channel and the thermotherapy channel is carried out simultaneously via a single optical fiber. The device allows both simultaneous and individual use of the modes of photodynamic therapy and thermotherapy to treat oncologic diseases. To monitor the therapy procedure, the device is equipped with a contactless pyrometric temperature sensor with a laser pointer, a contact invasive temperature sensor, a power meter, a power density meter, a temperature control (calibration) unit. Definition of a therapy mode cyclogram may be done from the control keyboard. The parameters of operating modes are shown on the display. The device can be used in general surgery, endo- and laparosurgery, dermatology, stomatology and therapy, as a blood coagulator and a scalpel. |

Laser Hair Removal is rapidly becoming one of the most sought after cosmetic procedures today. The EPILASER offers the greatest advantage in hair removal, both to the physician and the patient, when important treatment elements such as safety, effectiveness, speed, treatment comfort, recovery time and cost are all considered. The EPILASER is used to treat all skin types with virtually no side effects. The laser's burst of energy is strong enough to damage the hair structure but too shot to heat the surrounding skin. This long-pulsed laser light, having a 1064 nm wavelength, is minimally absorbed in superficial skin layers, and pronounced scattering up to 5 mm occurs targeting in deeper follicles. No patient had hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation. The EPILASER promotes significant growth delay, which, depending on the hair type and location, will last from an average of 30 - 90 days or longer, with each treatment. The EPILASER supports large spot size and fast (up to 3 Hz) repetition rates. Because there is no heat transmitted to surrounding skin areas, patients feel nothing more than a tingling sensation as the laser light pulses against their skin. |

DERMALAG is a Q-switched, frequency doubled Nd:YAG laser. DERMALAG supports all the basic cosmetic applications including tattoo removal, pigmented lesion removal and vascular lesion treatment. The 1064 nm (infrared) wavelength of DERMALAG is used in the removal of dark-ink tattoo. Since there is comparatively low absorption by melanin at the longer wavelength, a significantly lower risk of hypopigmentation exists at 1064 nm in comparison to other lasers in the 600-800-nm range. Additionally, the short pulse width (20 ns) reduces the risk of scarring by limiting the tissue exposure to heat build-up. The 1064 nm (infrared) wavelength with energy fluences of 4-12 J/cm2 is extremely successful in the treatment of dermal melanocytosis such as nevus of Ota and aberrant Mongolian spots. The 532 nm (green) wavelength is ideally suited for the removal of red tattoo ink. Significant red ink removal may be achieved with one treatment at 532 nm at fluences of 5 J/cm2. The 532 nm (green) wavelength with fluences of 2-5 J/cm2 has a significant application in the removal of vascular lesions and epidermal pigmented lesions. |

![]() ANTIBOL is used:
|
The ANTIBOL (antipain) device is an impulse anaesthetic stimulator of red light supplied with electric massage plates for reflex therapy. FeaturesThe device provides a possibility to produce an effect both electric energy when using electrodes on the device housing, and with light energy when using a light pencil that is connected to the housing by a flexible wire. The therapeutic effect is based on the well-known phenomenon of increase of metabolic rate in tissues and cells under electric pulses, and as a consequence analgetic, anti - inflammatory, antiedemic and general restorative effects are achieved in the organism. Low-energy red light radiation has an analogous effect on the mucous membrane. The human skin is practically transparent to the radiation used in this device, so a positive effect can be achieved almost in 100% of cases when light pulse stimulation is used. The main distinction of the ANTIBOL device from all analogous devices is automatic continuous tuning of repetition rate of electric and light pulses (40...250 Hz for 2 min), which on the one hand, does not allow the human organism to be habituated to an external irritant (which enhanced considerably the effect of exposure). On the other hand, the wide pulse repetition rate tuning range assures good agreement with individual frequencies of biorhythms of the human organism, which also increases resonantly the efficiency of exposure. In the mode of electrostimulation the efficiency is not less than 85%. |
